Trisha Anderson Rogers, 47, pleaded Tuesday to three counts of indecent liberties with a minor.
A former New Hanover County (Wilmington, N.C.) student teacher was sentenced to prison this week after pleading guilty to the solicitation of a 13-year-old student.
Trisha Anderson Rogers, 47, was arrested in July 2016 on charges of soliciting a child by computer, indecent liberties with a child and indecent liberties with a student.
She pleaded guilty to three counts of indecent liberties and was sentenced to 8 months in prison with 20 to 33 months in prison suspended, and 60 months supervised probation, according to the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office. Rogers must also register as a sex offender and she was ordered to pay at least $600 in court costs and fees.
According to the arrest warrant, Rogers was a teacher-in-training at Murray Middle School when she used her cell phone several times to attempt to arrange a meeting with a 13-year-old student for an “unlawful sex act.”
The offenses took place between Feb. 29 and May 5, the warrant states.
Rogers was a student teacher for one semester in the spring of 2016 and served as a substitute teacher for the school system up until her arrest.
