After Geraldo apparently defended Matt Lauer, a video now surfaces of Bette Milder accusing Geraldo Rivera of groping her in a Barbar Walters interview.
Midler said she and her husband initially laughed off the claim, noting it offered a change of pace from her straight-laced portrayal in the media.
“I said, ‘Well, his penis went to his head,’” she said.
“Geraldo and his producers came to do an interview with me in the ’70s, the early ’70s,” she said. “And this was when he was very sort of hot.”
Rivera and his producer left the rest of the crew behind, she added, and forced her into her bathroom where they assaulted her.
“They broke two poppers and pushed them under my nose and proceeded to grope me,” Midler said.
This is what Midler had to say on Twitter:
Tomorrow is my birthday. I feel like this video was a gift from the universe to me. Geraldo may have apologized for his tweets supporting Matt Lauer, but he has yet to apologize for this. #MeToo pic.twitter.com/TkcolFWfA2
